Professional strength often starts with vulnerability: Locum Labs

When we ran our first Locum Lab, I thought we’d spend the hour discussing systems and processes. We did, a bit. But my real take-home from the discussion was how professionals stay confident while working in unfamiliar places – and how much of that confidence begins with vulnerability.

Everyone in the (virtual) room was experienced. Nobody was worried about the medicine. What unsettled them were the small things around it: the doors that won’t open, the logins that don’t work, the subtle sense of being a guest when you’re responsible for the patients.

So what do you do when you’re deeply competent but still exposed to small uncertainties? Nobody expected a single session to solve everything, but we did surface some genuinely practical approaches. You can read the debrief in full here.
