Dr Alice Hodkinson and Dr Deepthi Lavu, both portfolio GPs, were elected to RCGP council in the 2025 elections held this week.
Dr Lavu told colleagues: “I have been elected to RCGP council this election with all your support so thank you all very much. I sincerely hope I can deliver in the post and will be looking towards you all (and will be grateful) for any ideas or concerns you may have that will help me make your voices heard there.”
The pair are joined by Dr U A Tanvir Alam, Dr Cheska Ball, Dr Dominic Patterson and new president Dr Sam Everington.
The election of portfolio GPs marks another change in the role of sessional GP representation at the highest levels of leadership in general practice.
