This is a new guideline from the British Society of Gastroenterology (BSG) on the use of FIT testing in iron deficiency anaemia (IDA). It was published in Oct 25.
The BSG has published this new guideline to take account of recent evidence. They updated guidance on investigating and managing IDA and published new guidance on using FIT in the investigation of bowel cancer in 2022.
You will obviously need to follow local guidance on who to refer and when and under what pathway, but there is some good information in this guideline and it explains why we do what we do.
