NASGP adds new Membership Director to support with GPs and practices

Rich Curno has joined the National Association of Sessional GPs in a newly-created role as Director of Membership.

Rich comes to NASGP from the Chief of Staff Association and brings over 20 years of experience into his new role with us. He has previously worked with other membership organisations, bringing professionals together to foster learning, share insights and drive meaningful change. He has also held senior roles in both national and international contexts, including as Deputy CEO of the United Nations Association and Director of Network at the thinktank New Local.

As Director of Membership at NASGP, Richard applies his expertise with a collaborative and strategic approach, supporting sessional GPs across the UK. He said: “I’m thrilled to be joining NASGP at such an exciting time. This strong, vibrant community of GPs is doing vital work, and I’m looking forward to helping deepen those connections, amplify members’ voices and continue building the sense of belonging that makes NASGP so special.”

NASGP Chair Dr Richard Fieldhouse said: “We are thrilled that Rich Curno is joining us as our new Director of Membership. His proven experience in building professional communities will be invaluable to NASGP members. Sessional GPs are the flexible, skilled resource the NHS desperately needs, and this role ensures we amplify their voices and deepen the vital support required for them to thrive.”

Helen Holmes-Fogg, NASGP’s CEO, said: “Rich is really going to dig deep to understand and bring a membership and community which adds value and brings people together. Working collaboratively with partners across the NHS, he will bring more benefits and opportunities for the NASGP community.”

"I started my career as a GP locum last year a week after CCT. I strongly agree with the doctors who praise the NASGP team. If there is no NASGP, there would be no GP locum called Dr Darshanie Seneviratne.

The team is absolutely amazing especially Dr Richard Fieldhouse, Ali Lewis and Jacqui Gumbrell – all providing unbelievable support to us. I've never seen such urgent assistance from any other team at any point in my career. For example when one of my invoices was delayed by a month and a half, Ali was incredibly supportive. It is a very good strength for us as we have support with any issues. I would like to stay with this amazing team forever. "
