New checklist helps GP locums assess salaried contract terms

The NASGP has published a new resource for GP locums who are considering taking a contract as a salaried GP.

The resource helps GP locums gather information in the public domain, job description and experience of working at the practice, then reveals the questions still left for the practice partners or manager to supply information about.

Questions include, ‘How is the practice owned and managed?’ and ‘What are your mandatory training costs?’.

During the pandemic many GP locums have considered taking a contract in the absence of available sessions. NASGP is a membership organisation for both GP locums and salaried GPs, and has previously published specific advice for salaried GPs, such as working as a salaried GP and the salaried GP ‘job plan’.

"Joining NASGP's Locum Chambers in Essex after CCT has been a fantastic decision for me. The Chambers structure provides support with my locum work as well as a peer support network with regular meetings.

The Chambers support also extends to support with complaints when these occur. This is an amazing benefit that helps to minimise the professional isolation that can come with being a locum.

The Instant Book feature within LocumDeck makes arranging sessions easy. Whilst getting things set up initially does take a bit of work, this eventually pays off and the return on this initial time investment is impressive. New features are always being added based on feedback from members. "
