Dr Waqar Ahmed presented NASGP’s January event, the first in our series of monthly clinical events for 2023.
He explained how he’s been using tools from comedy and improvisation to make working in general practice easier, and how he got there.
Dr Ahmed has worked as a GP in Northern Ireland for 15 years, has previously given improv workshops for doctors at the RCGP conference and the BMA leadership conference, and been featured in The Times.

Q&A: Dr Julian Treadwell, project lead, GP Evidence
Dr Julian Treadwell has just launched a new website, GP Evidence (gpevidence.org/), developed to make the scientific evidence underpinning guideline-recommended treatments easier to access and understand for practising GPs.
"As a newly-qualified CCT and a GP moving to a new region post-CCT, I found LocumDeck and the NASGP to be very helpful. LocumDeck has been useful: Ali Lewis helped me to set myself up, get in touch with practices and book sessions, and also helped me chase payments.
