Expert GP to present on physical activity for long-term conditions

Physical activity clinical champion Dr Varun Anand will present on recommending physical activity for long-term conditions in general practice in NASGP’s webinar in June.

In a rare one-off event, this webinar will be open to members and non-members alike.

Registration has now closed.

Dr Varun Anand is a GP and a physical activity clinical champion for Moving Medicine. He also works with the public health team at Hull City Council to deliver weight management training to health care professionals.

He previously presented on obesity and weight management last summer.

Last month NASGP members attended ‘Better outcomes for patients with ADHD and autism’ with Dr Alesia Moulton-Perkins and Dr Jessie Gough.

The NASGP’s free members-only webinars events take place at 1pm on the first Thursday of every month, apart from August.

In 2025 NASGP will host more lunchtime webinars for members on:

  • Physical activity for long-term conditions
  • Managing leukaemia in general practice
  • Self-compassion and reflection for GPs
  • Loss of vision, fast and slow

You can email ellie.broughton@nasgp.org.uk with questions in advance.

"The NASGP and the GP locum chambers that I'm in have provided invaluable assistance both before and through Covid-19 to me as a full-time GP locum. All aspects of locum work have been made easier as a result of membership and the chamber's support structure - from accessing work, to ensuring invoicing and documentation is all sorted, and access to other locums as peer support. Having a chamber manager means I feel more secure and can devote more of my energy on my clinical work."
