2 guidelines here:
The aim is to normalise HIV testing. The following to targets were new for me:
- All new registrations in areas with incidence of HIV > 2/1000
- All men registering in an area with a large community of men who have sex with men.
- All people registering from a country with a high prevalence of HIV.
- Men who have sex with men should be offered annual testing, if sexually active.
Point-of-contact testing. I was not aware that ‘point of contact’ testing is now available in some areas.
Pre-test discussion. All that needs to be covered when offering HIV testing is why the test is indicated for that person and how they will get the results. No more lengthy discussion is required.
