The team at NASGP has selected a GP-led UK charity to receive its annual donation on behalf of its members this year.
Doctors of the World UK is the UK chapter of the global Médecins du Monde network, an international human rights organisation made up of 17 chapters around the world working on both domestic and international health projects.
Providing care, bearing witness, and supporting social change, Doctors of the World continues its mission to fight for the universal right to health. Through more than 400 innovative medical programs and evidence-based advocacy initiatives in over 70 countries, we enable vulnerable people and their communities to access quality medical services and fight for universal access to healthcare.
Dr Nadeeja Koralage, GP and acting clinical lead, Doctors of the World, said: “Everybody needs healthcare sometimes. In 2025, Doctors of the World will continue to respond to the crises affecting people’s health, whoever they are, whatever they face: violence, extreme poverty, climate emergency, or cruel policies. Our doctors, nurses and health workers will be here to provide medical aid for all and mobilise political aid for change both here in the UK and across the globe.”
Dr Lisa Harrod-Rothwell, deputy CEO and lead medical director at Londonwide LMCs, is the charity’s vice president of trustees and a volunteer at its London clinic.
Dr Pratheep Sunatharamoorthy, a GP partner in North East London, also volunteers for the charity.
Dr Richard Fieldhouse, NASGP chair, said: “It’s been a decades-long tradition for NASGP to support charities that are caring for the most vulnerable people across the globe, so we’re delighted to support Doctors of the World UK in the incredible work they do, and the devoted GPs who give so much of their time to this work.”
