Nice | Stroke rehabilitation

Most of this guidance is aimed at secondary care and the services advised seem to be happening already locally. An interesting section on returning to work, is however relevant to us, so I've pulled out some of the less obvious bits:

• Both cognitive and emotional changes, in addition to physical ones,  can occur after stroke and can impact on the patient's ability to do their job.
• The stroke team, or occupational health support if available, could help with multitasking training, voice activated software, or memory aids.
• An 'access to work' scheme may help (through the job centre).
• Consider liaising with the employer, eg about work place visits, or graded return to work.

They also encourage us to refer back to the stroke rehab team if more rehab is needed down the line.
