What do GP locums need to know about enhanced access?

Primary care is facing unprecedented demand and NHS England is exploring new ways of working to address this. The Enhanced Access Programme aims to improve access and equity of access for patients through extended hours with pre-bookable face-to-face and remote appointments.

The programme requires GP practices to collaborate within their Primary Care Network (PCN) in providing this extension of usual care, during evenings and Saturdays. The offer is multidisciplinary, enabling patients to access services including screening, vaccination and regular monitoring of long-term conditions.
