This is a new guideline from NICE recommending the use of Sleepio to treat insomnia. It was published in May 22 and has generated much media interest, so it is likely that you have heard about this already.
What is Sleepio?
Sleepio is a digital self-help programme. It provides CBT-i (CBT for insomnia). It is important to note that this is different to normal CBT and is specifically for insomnia, so if a patient has had CBT for other reasons, they should still be encouraged to use CBT-i for their sleep.
It can also be accessed through an app. The app can be linked to wearable fitness trackers, like Fitbit. Patients have access to it for 12 months once they have signed up.
