Greenlight XPS (laser treatment) for treating benign prostatic hyperplasia

This is a new guideline on using the Greenlight XPS system for treating BPH. This has been widely reported in the media. It is as effective as TURP in low-risk patients and has the big advantage of being able to be done as day surgery.

The system involves inserting a laser fibre through a cystoscope to vaporise the enlarged prostate. It can also be used to cauterise any bleeding vessels. There is evidence of fewer complications than with TURP and also fewer readmissions.

"LocumDeck is self-explanatory and having never made/sent an invoice before it's made my life a lot easier, and made me feel reassured I hadn’t forgotten anything important.

I’ve recommended it to my colleague/friend who is also starting out as a GP locum."
