New Type 2 NHS pension self-assessment 2018 to 2019 form now live

The new 2018/19 Type 2 Medical Practitioner self-assessment form and the companion guidance notes are now on the NHS Pensions website, located within the Practitioner webpage.

They’re not easy to find, so here are the direct links

The forms are similar to last year, with the guidance having being updated and made easier to understand.

All type 2 medical Practitioners in England and Wales must complete and submit this form by 28 February 2020.

A type 2 medical Practitioner is:

  • A salaried GP formally employed by a GP practice, APMS contractor or by a LHB.
  • A long term fee based/self-employed GP who works for a GP practice, APMS contractor, or LHB.
  • A GP who works solely on an employed or self-employed basis for an Out of Hours Provider that is an Employing Authority, but not a NHS Trust/Foundation Trust.

"Work as GP locum provides me both flexibility and autonomy together with great job satisfaction. However, there are some complexities one needs to address in starting out and doing everything right.

I've generally found answers to any issues I've had on the NASGP website – an excellent repository of very relevant information. The blog and magazines alone are almost worth the small costs of membership. The fact that NASGP is run by motivated fellow GPs gives me confidence in their guidance and advice.

LocumDeck makes my running things as a self-employed GP almost effortless - I don't think I would want to work without it. Invoicing is streamlined and the website is very user-friendly. After a busy week at work, the last thing you want is to spend hours on business admin. LocumDeck is a real timesaver.
