GP locums will be able to join a chambers for free this summer following the launch of a new partnership between NASGP and a local CCG.
North East Essex chambers will be open to NASGP members, including GPs on a free trial, for several months this summer.
Chambers offers GP locums a ‘virtual practice’ arrangement that connects them with local colleagues and practices. Each Chambers is a local team of up to 15 GP locums who meet up regularly. It is a collaborative group who share a dedicated manager and clinical director while retaining independence.
GPs can apply to join the chambers by logging into LocumDeck and clicking on the link to North East Essex chambers on the LocumDeck dashboard, with free membership until September 2021.
Dr Richard Fieldhouse, chair of the NASGP, writes: “GP workforce planning traditionally focuses on salaried GPs and partnerships, with very little attention paid to the importance of also supporting a motivated and engaged GP locum workforce to support practices.
“At a time when overall GP numbers are known to be some 5,000 short across the UK, it is refreshing to work with NHS organisations who value GP locums as a vital part of the workforce.
“By enabling local GPs and practices to have unfettered access to NASGP resources, we provide the simplest way for practices to link in with local locums, as well as creating greater access to salaried and partnership opportunities.”
You can now apply to join North East Essex chambers on the LocumDeck dashboard homepage. Normal NASGP membership will resume from 1 September 2021.
