GP registrars can now book sessions on LocumDeck to undertake after they pass the CCT.
Registrars can now use LocumDeck as a standard qualified GP user would do. After entering their CCT date, they can now add availability to their calendar ready for practices to book after they qualify.
NASGP already offers free membership during VTS, and for three months afterwards. Read more.
To book post-training work on LocumDeck, you must meet the following two conditions:
- All your bookings are made on the basis that you will be on the GMC GP Register on the CCT date that you provide us with.
- If for some reason you are not on the GMC GP Register on the date provided, you must inform practices and the NASGP, and postpone any bookings until you are registered.
NASGP’s booking platform, LocumDeck, is updated regularly based on user feedback and through consultation with our LocumDeck user group.
Recent improvements included enabling GPs to open availability on LocumDeck after responding to an availability request, and enabling practices to book remote sessions with NASGP members on LocumDeck.
Dr Richard Fieldhouse, NASGP chair, said: “Newly-qualified GPs can work as soon as they’ve qualified, even if their status hasn’t been updated on the Performers List, by showing their CCT certificate, which is also reflected on the GMC register.
“Even if it’s for a short period of time, working as a GP locum at the beginning of one’s GP career can be a thrilling experience, and your newly honed skills can be exceptionally beneficial to practices.
“But newly-qualified GPs can also be vulnerable too, especially if locum skills were not a component of training, which is where your NASGP membership can come in so handy.”
