Funded membership launches for Hants and Isle of Wight GPs

GPs working in Hampshire and on the Isle of Wight (HIOW) can now get fully-funded NASGP membership until 31 January 2024.

When a GP confirms a session at a participating practices on LocumDeck, we will automatically give them NASGP Membership Plus until 31 January 2024, including LocumDeck access.

GPs can post their own availability and see availability requests from dozens of local practices as part of the offer. As part of the same scheme, GPs can also enjoy fully-funded membership of a new NASGP Locum Chambers launching next month.

Funded membership is supported through a partnership between NASGP and Hampshire, Southampton and Isle of Wight CCG and Portsmouth CCG. It will cover locum sessions in GP practices in Southampton, Portsmouth, Winchester, Gosport and the Isle of Wight, amongst others.

It follows the successful launch of similar offers for GPs working in Berkshire, Buckinghamshire, Oxfordshire and the Frimley area, and another for GPs working in Hertfordshire and Essex.

Dr Richard Fieldhouse, NASGP chair, says: “We are thrilled to be working with Hampshire, Isle of Wight and Portsmouth CCGs, who approached us last year to help engage local locums to help support them and the diverse range of inner city, rural and coastal practices they work in.

“This is all part of a move nationally to create, in one way or another, flexible pools of locums, and is our fifth partnership of this kind. With our locum chambers model, we believe in supporting local locums to work together to support practices through easy booking, proactive feedback, well-informed locums and engendering a strong sense of purpose to support practices.

“Over the coming months we very much hope to be finalising similar offers for locums and practices in other parts of the UK.”

"I started my career as a GP locum last year a week after CCT. I strongly agree with the doctors who praise the NASGP team. If there is no NASGP, there would be no GP locum called Dr Darshanie Seneviratne.

The team is absolutely amazing especially Dr Richard Fieldhouse, Ali Lewis and Jacqui Gumbrell – all providing unbelievable support to us. I've never seen such urgent assistance from any other team at any point in my career. For example when one of my invoices was delayed by a month and a half, Ali was incredibly supportive. It is a very good strength for us as we have support with any issues. I would like to stay with this amazing team forever. "
