Flexible Pools Gloucestershire
The NASGP has partnered with NHS Gloucestershire ICB to launch a Primary Care Flexible Staffing Pool for healthcare assistants (HCAs) and phlebotomists, which runs on NASGP’s LocumDeck platform.
HCAs must already have a substantive role before applying.
The NASGP also runs a pool for GP administrators and receptionists. Find out more.
🧍 Work self-employed
Set your own rates and terms as a self-employed HCA or phlebotomist at Gloucestershire practices.
👫 Work in a bank
If you are a HCA looking to work on NHS Gloucestershire’s HCA Flexible Pool but don’t want to work on a self-employed basis, you can sign up for a zero-hours contract with our employment partner GDOC. In signing up with GDOC, you will be able to work on the HCA Flexible Pool and be paid by monthly via GDOC payroll. No need to raise invoices to each booking practice or waiting to be paid. NASGP will submit timesheets to GDOC and you will be paid monthly in arrears. Please note that you will need to be in a substantive role in general practice to undertake work on the HCA bank. Working on the bank should not impact your ability to work in your substantive role.
GDOC’s HR team will arrange an interview to ensure suitability and thereafter support with onboarding and all your mandatory training needs. Getting you up and running as quickly as possible to start working at practices in Gloucestershire. Please email recruitment.gdoc@nhs.net for more information.

“I’ve done respiratory nursing clinics through my local ICS and it was such a great experience. During my clinic I realised how valued and needed my skills are. Locuming gave me a great sense of pride and enthusiasm and I felt respected for my work. It was really easy to book and get paid too. I would recommend LocumDeck to my colleagues.” Katrina Munro, locum nurse
“LocumDeck has given me the opportunity to work in different practices and meet new colleagues. I enjoy the flexibility of working on a locum basis. I found the initial setting up process straightforward, and there is plenty of help with the set up guides as well as support from the local Nurse Ambassador, and Becky Nelson, the Nurse Support Manager at LocumDeck. I now have regular bookings on days and times which suit me.” Anon locum nurse

LocumDeck already allows GP practices across Gloucestershire to access hundreds of hours of GP time every month. Now, in collaboration with practice managers, nurses and professional bodies, we have adapted LocumDeck to make it easy for healthcare assistants and administrators to work flexibly together with practices too.
