This is a statement from the FSRH advising that Sayana Press is now licensed for self-injection. For more about Sayana Press see my plog.
This is likely to be really popular with some women and to reduce the likelihood of missed or late injections.
Patients need training on how to use it and need to have their first self administration observed. They will need a sharp's bin too. They can then be sent home with 3 jabs - i.e enough for a year.
There is an excellent patient website which has a video showing how to inject it, lots of info on Sayana Press and also has a text messaging service that patients can sign up to, which will remind them when their injection is due.
