166 THE GPC: That the GPC seeks the views of conference on the following motion from the Sessional GPs Subcommittee: That conference demands NHS England follow the example of the devolved nations in recognising that locum/freelance GPs are an important part of the GP workforce and reintroduce the funding for participating in annual appraisal.

It's not so much the money (locums are at liberty to factor this into the rates they charge), it's the lack of faith that NHS England has in appraisal. Surely if it's all about improving the performance of all GPs to enable them to provide the best care for patients, why isn't it putting its money where its mouth is?
