What's in it for me?"It's been great to be a part of NASGP, and over the last few years it has given me a lot of inspiration. Also I guess the most important aspect was a feeling that I had made a positive career choice. I will never regret taking the last 7 years to do 'my own thing'. Thanks for all the hard work you have done to support us. It is so important to have such support and encouraging local [Sessional GP Groups] is so worthwhile." Laura "As a former f/t GP Principal and LMC medical secretary, I am very pleased to be able to belong to [the NASGP] that promotes and supports Sessional GPs. I am concerned that as the number of Sessional GPs grows and GP principals diminishes, the ability of [GPs] to influence the development of the provision of primary care will diminish without the co-ordinated voice that this organisation provides" Dr John Clark " I am leaving the band of Sessional GPs to return to join a partnership - it is thanks to the NASGP that I feel that Sessional GPs have an identity that I am sorry to lose." "Having become a part time partner 6/12 ago I wish to remain a member of the [NASGP] because I feel the organisation has fairly represented locums and improved professional respect." "I am now completely retired...I am pleased to have been a member in the past and I found my contacts with [NASGP] were always worth while, helpful and inspirational - and I wish it all the future success" "...I really wanted just to thank you and the [NASGP] for the SO useful reminders you send out to us otherwise 'lost' Non Principals out there. Do keep on with the good work - it's much appreciated." We're a voluntary non-profit making membership organisation currently with 1,200 members, and our aim is to unite all general practitioners through an agenda of quality and equality. We were founded in January 1997 by a group of enthusiastic GPs (nearly all Sessional GPs), and we've energetically campaigned to improve the status and representation of Sessional GPs through our handbook, regular newsletters, national conference, code of good practice, local groups, practice induction pack, website and the media. With our ever-increasing network of Sessional GP groups (currently over 90), we provide support and representation at both a local and national level. We rely heavily upon our members for support and funding, and that's why we need even more to carry on doing what we've been doing so well. The more members we have, the more we can do.
