How can Sessional GPs get a prescriber number?

The DoH agreed in principal to provide sessional GPs with prescription numbers early 2004. There was no fanfare announcing the start of this but it has been occurring in a piece meal fashion about the country.

In some areas GPs on the FCS have received prescription numbers and get PACT data in the practices where they work. Some other salaried GPs have also received prescription numbers.

It is worth individual GPs approaching their PCOs to ask if they can have a prescription number as it is obviously possible to do this now at a local level.
